I agree with you @johan , fantastic suggestion.
Things have change a lot in just the last 20 years in terms of online friendships/relationships. People I met back then gaming/ online, had no issues meeting in RL. People I come across nowadays are far more distant and lots stay incognito online. What happened that people are afraid to just be themselves?
Looking back at some of my gaming meetups, it could have been a “me” thing, since I would organize it. I was brought up in businesses that required people interaction every day. Sight seeing boat tours, to teaching dance lessons, to real estate, so it’s never been an issue for me. I’d imagine those brought up around industries that are only focused on what’s on the computer screen might have some hesitancy or a fear of in person social interactions.
I’ve just travelled cross country and in all the RV parks I’ve visited most people stay to themselves… except in the hot tub (for the most part) when they are in close quarters and you’re face to face with them, no phone, and the only thing to do is talk, cause silence is even more awkward. 🙂 But you can see it there, the awkwardness some people feel communicating, they don’t make eye contact. I usually just break the ice and start the convo. You can usually find something to chat about pretty quick.
Anyway, with so many more moving in the coding/programming/pc industries now, it will probably get worse if not brought to the forefront of people’s minds. We used to have gaming parties, I just looked at meetup.com there’s coding parties, that would be work though. Gotta have the fun/social aspect to it.

Brian mentioned geothermal before as well. I tried to see if I could get it installed at my old house. There weren’t any companies that would do it in my area though. So I branched out and did a lot more research on what would be sustainable in any environment. There’s something to the waves of things and a free flow of ideas.
