I think having your own separate thread is a neat workaround to staying on topic, topic: ‘Roxanne and her adventures’ that is easily found and acts as a journal for your explorations and comments.
I’ve been intrigued by your art and how you match it to discussions. I think a visual part to them adds immensely to the scope as well as stimulating creativity. I use memes. For various reasons. Mostly because walls of text leave me cold. I figure if I stay on topic I will not violate the various strictures on the community and the site.
Of course there are no DM’s here so your solution works best for talking at you and possibly getting a response because it is easy to check your thread 🙂
I have been using the interwebs since I connected my Amiga to sites like the WELL and (numerous bbs’s of dubious providence like where I hung with the Bell South Crowd) via modem connections that morphed into telnet highways discovering things like the Library of Congress used to offer email transfer of documents to a supplied mailbox (in the days of 1 megabyte limits.)
I approached the internet as a domain that needed anonymity for research or at least pseudoanonymity so that queries and conversations would not likely be following me home. In netdynam, a mailing list an academic and a psychiatrist who championed ‘safe’ spaces learned that lesson the hard way, the academic from their institution and the psychiatrist by a patient who was also part of the mailing list.
This is the long way to say, I have no idea because wordpress was and is a porous mess that does nothing to protect my information and I am now stuck in between my old self, pre head bang and my present real identity self.
Unintended consequences, I’ll keep working at it but in the end it usually ends up with me having to relearn from scratch what I did before. I feel a little like CHAT-GPT at times if it had feelings or remembered things.
Thanks for your support over a bed I made myself. So, perchance to dream.
BTW, deep and intense gratitude for GPT4ALL as I do not wish to broadcast any personal insights to the parties that be who are no doubt soaking up all the private efforts being expended by those in genpop that have now accessed and are iterating a very limited tool towards usefulness.
Intelligence Amplifier. That’s what set my hair on fire. I wanted to play with those assistants so badly.
Stephen Palmer also penned some speculation about ai learning after acquiring a physical presence in two forms.
I got hung up by past me setting things up and making accounts and such and present me is reaping the rewards of that carelessness of years ago.
No Avatar for me unless there is godmode override.

I no longer attend the daily rabble after 3 suspensions with no reason given and no explanation for parole. It’s pure manipulation and I’ve come to believe if TikTok is a weapon then Google search, Apple phones and social media are too. Another thing I noted is that Twitter et al. are the best psychotherapy around for all those people shaking their fists at the clouds.

I saw somewhere the suggestion that 128Gb of RAM would be a suitable environment for testing so along with my 5 year computer upgrade I think that a couple of 2 terabyte nVME’s are called for and I will be set for the next generation.
Forget the NAS and use fast high capacity memory sticks with 3.0+ USB, label each one according to what you are experimenting with.
That way when the ThaughtPopo™ track you down you can pass your breakthroughs to the Underground or throw it on a roof to be recovered and set free in the future.
May 31, 2023 at 1:02 pm in reply to: Suggestions, enhancements and other QoL improvements for the Forums #14580Did I mention yet that your art has grown on me?
I was frustrated at first with the multiples but with a specific image for each post my resistance has been assuaged.
This is what the superprompts feel like to me.
Well, until I do the work of logging back on and trying out a few things I can only offer you a chance to get ahead of the hall monitors who would impose their biases and beliefs on each and every:
lol just for the lulz and no evil intent express or implied…..
(ps. the logging on and experimentation seems fraught to my sensibilities because of the ai monitoring each and every instance of prompts with a tripwire and trace type function so anonymity or even pseudo anonymity from alternate mails and institutions will be available for when doing research is declared a thought crime)
May 31, 2023 at 12:23 pm in reply to: Suggestions, enhancements and other QoL improvements for the Forums #14567I’m starting to get annoyed at the return to the introductory page and having to scroll down to get back to the forums. I am either doing it wrong and need correction or after my first encounter should have the ability to go directly to the forum list.
Thanks for your attention.
May 31, 2023 at 12:20 pm in reply to: Bodyweight exercises for 20-30 minute session SuperPrompt #14566The feeling I got when I read through your thoughts and efforts was that this was something that could be done from involvement in a fitness gym or a directed google search effort.
Giggles: Marine Corp core basic training exercise regimen
Giggles: Therapies and activities with resistance bands for range of motion
Giggles: Top five popular starting cardio, endurance and flexibility workouts
Some terms I found from a billing article would add to the superprompt. I find composing a glossary first is often useful for queries. I have a huge list of weasel terms to apply to research papers that help indicate when P-Values have been statistically tortured or methodology is not quite best practice.
Therapeutic exercise:
-
<li aria-level=”1″>Active, active-assisted, or passive range of motion for increased ROM of a specific joint
<li aria-level=”1″>Resistance exercises for improved muscular strength, including isometric, isotonic, and isokinetic
<li aria-level=”1″>Exercises to improve aerobic or cardiopulmonary endurance, including: treadmill, bicycle, or NuStep
<li aria-level=”1″>Any active stretches which are being utilized to improve flexibility.Therapeutic activities:
-
<li aria-level=”1″>Is this a functional activity, such as climbing stairs?
<li aria-level=”1″>Will this improve his/her functional performance, in daily life, at work, or in a sport?
<li aria-level=”1″>Is more than one parameter (strength, coordination, etc.) being addressed with this activity?
<li aria-level=”1″>Does this activity directly correspond or relate to a specific work or sports task that the patient will be performing once they have fully recovered?I’ve been through rehab with a skilled kinesiologist whose touch I craved because he seemed to immediately find the points that brought release to not only my aches but the ancillary problems that appear as you progress past the main injury to the several and many strains and out of alignment issues associated with the trauma.
This I offer for the refinement of your superprompts.
May 31, 2023 at 11:15 am in reply to: Suggestions, enhancements and other QoL improvements for the Forums #14556The game had 10 actual levels each harder to achieve than the previous one.
That ranking did not follow numerical order. The range was from 1-100 and while 100 felt good it was a dead end. The hidden password to restore the rest of the board to you was PW: iamsostupid which then unlocked your previous configuration for you. In that level was a ladder to another level that advanced you into a new area with an assortment of more advanced information.
The hacking lessons were real and also required you to learn how to proceed with efforts to logon and exploit the common default setups usually open from laziness or ignorance. Making the same mistake twice or more got you sent off to various levels where supplementary texts with embedded account tagged ‘clues’ were placed in an assortment of ‘standard’ text files. Much like continual reference to ‘man’ pages for the answer to why some aspect of unix failed to work properly. A skillset useful for life.
Telnet to various types of system (simulated) allowed you to practice across everything from VMS to flavors of Unix with the appropriate telnet error messages if you brought your own destination to exploit.
Once in awhile my buddy and I howled as someone entered the system plugging and poking away. I’d put my beer down and pull together what they seemed to be trying to do, cloned a menu system with search and replace and then compiled it in real time so it was suddenly available in their path. Good times.
Another sysop with the same machine and software who had created something very special with many bells and whistles that fostered a growing diverse community through its colors, editors, ease of use suddenly decided to take it to the next level and gift everyone with the power to change things which unfortunately ended up as a command line environment instead of self explanatory menus and add on’s like full featured text editors and such.
So really I just need a chance to look at the api and such to get an idea of how to enhance things. For a simple messaging board I used to set up NewLispOnRockets with millisecond responses which with some effort was expandable according to my ability and whims.
May 30, 2023 at 8:52 pm in reply to: Suggestions, enhancements and other QoL improvements for the Forums #14458Usually when something is built it is either an implemented package or cut from whole cloth. No matter how insightful or well meaning the effort is, it sometimes falls short of expectations and needs.
I ran a bulletin board for years with an amazing piece of software that was at the time (1994) infinitely expandable and configurable. In the end I could configure faux telnet prompts leading to look alike and act the same systems for any other application available. Even the menus compiled in real time while people were exploring my game of ‘hacker’.
One of the levels allowed the user to configure their own menus. Many lessons were learned and the penalty system for mistakes in form or execution were rewarded with a Snakes and Ladders reassignment of status resulting in being shunted to an obscure level however rereading of text files would give you a way out through embedded instruction tagged with your user name about errors made and how to get back in the main game.
I’d really like to know the software’s abilities.
Years ago I was able to get the ‘gist’ of a book from reading the comments and most quoted passages of the work. That was on Amazon for Kindle offerings which has since been neutered. I doubt anyone can spare the time to read everything necessary for any particular topic in any domain. This is why I feel this forum is going to get very interesting very quickly as the ‘assembled’ will soon be climbing upon the shoulders of others. I’ve been using memes and lists to communicate such large concepts into easily digested snippets of ‘knowledge’ chunks.
I find the concept of an agent that has read everything and has read everyone’s take on everything and can synthesize from that point to be mind blowing and in turn I am glad to be introduced to these concepts at the beginning (relatively speaking with due regard to Government military and intelligence agencies plus various NGO’s from tech to the various industrial complexes).
You just restored that loss of the ‘gist’ with your post. Vistas and doorways loom on the horizon. That .5 second delay, coupled with the interpretation function as well as the bit processing speed of the brain contrasted with the response action happening before the understanding is observed in a brain scan is somewhat astounding to me.
I’ve also thought about the ‘sixth’ sense and ‘gut’ feelings possibly derived from the totality of everything from chemical to pain receptors and vibration.
I have a list of identified senses which while arguable as parts and sun categories are the current state of understanding of what is perceived from the world:
01 – Sight
02 – Taste
03 – Touch
04 – Pressure
05 – Itch
06 – Thermoception
07 – Sound
08 – Smell
09 – Proprioception
10 – Kinesthetic sense
11 – Body awareness
12 – Interoception
13 – Nociception
14 – Equilibrioception
15 – Stretch receptors
16 – Chemoreceptors
17 – Thirst
18 – Hunger
19 – Magnetoreception
20 – Electroreception
21 – TimeMay 30, 2023 at 11:32 am in reply to: Suggestions, enhancements and other QoL improvements for the Forums #14388…and like magic you can travel to other pages in a conversation, an automatic response to quantity or ….. @Brian and crew?
Seeing nascent discussions attempting themselves but definitely needs replies to thread to the initial post……maybe some mechanism like adding @name in reply to attach it?
I have no idea what platform
<div class=”clear”>
<h1 class=”site-title”></h1>
<h1 class=”site-title”>or its forums are hosted in or on so I cannot make any relevant suggestions about ‘how’ to do it and can only note the ‘need’ for contiguous connectivity.</h1>
</div>An easy to understand lesson on ‘how’ to start a ‘discussion’ with different viewpoints and frames. I await your insights as they appear here.
That’s stimulating and appreciated insight.
Way back in the dawn of personal computing I imagined each and every approaching computer interfaces whilst believing themselves wizards, cyborgs or some other fantastical character.
I also had an outlook based on dealing with bureaucracies instantiated through legislation and regulation as being able to be bound or constrained by clever scripting based on that premise that could then cause them to act or to stop an action they were engaged in.
Brian’s Intelligence Amplifiers pointed the way to assistants accomplishing specific tasks and now we have a way to travel to the next level of them interacting in a way that increases understanding as well as providing serendipitous connections.

I was enthralled reading through your iterations and finally tasking GPT to come up with a prompt to return to your quest in a proper state to continue forward.
Thanks for this. It’s in the hopper now for when I actually log back into my account.
Bio’s read “Fourm” instead of Forum.
Remembering from whence the ai tool originated I am reminded of the old programming adage of ‘do what I say/want/intend’ instead of what is actually outputted.
I am also reminded about the human condition gifted to me from Bryan Johnson some years ago and led me to things like “always be charitable of others’ intentions in their posts”:
“I am the human race, homo sapiens sapiens, and I have a problem.
I am riddled with cognitive biases I cannot detect, define or fix. My brain and my five limited senses put me in a myopic frame of reference where only I appear at the center.
My belief systems force me to believe untrue facts, but I still hold onto them with a death grip.
My brain spends heaps of its precious energy trying to figure out the present and dwelling on the past, but is terrible in at planning for the future.
I am irrational, illogical, hypercritical, and find most pleasant the information that best conforms to my world view.
My memory is faulty, and I don’t even know where the gaps are. I fill in the rest with made up stories, like our eyes do with their tiny blind spots.
Of the hundreds of cognitive biases and default errors I am aware of, I can’t stay focused on any single one long enough to overcome them. I only imagine in terms of things I’m familiar with.
And worst of all, despite these admissions I believe everyone else’s reality is more distorted than min, that these flaws apply less to than to others.”

MrAdams, I think with this interface for any extended threads or conversations we are going to need to cut and paste <span class=”bbp-author-name”>MrAdams</span> like this or at least add the name of whom you are replying to.
Hardware = infused software into silicon and metal circuits ala the LISP machine which still inspires things like this to happen with PicoLisp one of the interpreted languages I follow:
Announce: PicoLisp in Hardware (PilMCU) (mail-archive.com)
So, to the meat of matter, can you envision a scrip to assemble and install a working prompt for members here and elsewhere if so inclined?
I’ve read a number of Speculative Fiction novels formerly, simply science fiction, which I label as ‘longthoughts™’ where concepts are extended into various fleshed out worlds to do a more detailed examination.
Humans seem to think in Utopian or Dystopian models while we slowly iterate forward ala Hans Rosling’s presentations to TED and in his book Factfulness.
We really need to start from where we are and to do that you need to go outside, cleaning out a cluttered attic, what you think you know and what the narrative offered to the chattering class says.

mrarturro hi, seems like you are another candidate to create a script to enable a one button install of a personal IA from what is available online. I’m thinking a specialized archive with all the bits and pieces available and coming that would allow for a personal version for the technically ‘challenged’ trying to go from the premise to the wielding of the ‘tool’. So from the idea to the active prompt sort of thing.
I love asking smart people to make ‘our ship go’ (reference to the kidnap of Geordie in ST:TNG).
advancedskills you seem to be one of my people…from the last millennium and a prior century – lol.
I don’t think we are going to get a universal acknowledgement much less an adherence to a code for responsibility. Humans. Despite the lessons of say, Cicero et al. it doesn’t happen very much or for very long. I’m not a negative pessimist here but I understand humans iterate their way forward one step at a time but like Snakes and Ladders can slide backwards many many steps with very little provocation.
I think we would have to build agents that would be able to semantically generate evaluations of intent and risk against a background of known biases affecting the human condition and logical fallacies used in argumentation and persuasion.
