Hi, I’m Jim O’Shaughnessy, the founder and CEO of O’Shaughnessy Ventures LLC. I’ve had a lifelong belief that technology can serve as a tool to exponentially increase our understanding of HumanOS and how to improve it. I passionately believe that we are now at the stage of AI development where this will happen, but I worry that competition between closed-source advocates (the Orwellian named OpenAI) and open-sourced advocates (StabilityAI, where I serve as Executive Chair of the Board of Directors) will come to resemble a true “Game of Thrones.”

I’m passionate about this because I have 5 grandchildren who will grow up in this new world. I don’t want them to face a Panopticon tightly controlled by a few but rather an open, cognitively diverse system available to all.

I’m here to learn.
