      Hello everyone,

I’m Jason, a co-founder of a venture centered primarily around fungi. While that might seem like an unusual background for someone interested in LLMs and personal AI, I believe in the beauty of interdisciplinary exploration and the importance of bridging gaps between different areas of knowledge.

My curiosity, both personally and professionally, has drawn me towards exploring the mesmerizing parallels between mycelium networks – the thread-like parts of a fungus – and AI. I am particularly interested in the themes of distributed processing and communication, network structure, and learning and adaptation, more specifically reinforcement learning.

Fungi, like the networks of AI, follow a decentralized model of growth and information processing. Mycelium networks grow, adapt, and respond to their environment, much like AI models learn and adapt over time. The more we understand about the structure and operation of these networks, the more we are able to refine AI’s capacity for complex tasks and problem-solving.

In a similar vein, I draw an interesting parallel between the human brain experiencing a psychedelic state and how AI models ‘switch’ between different modes of understanding based on the data they process.

When the human brain is in a psychedelic state, the usual parameters of reality shift, opening up an entirely new perspective that transcends the normal conscious experience – This has been referred to this as ‘reality switching.’ In the realm of AI, there is an intriguing analogy. Depending on the input data, AI can adapt and ‘switch’ its understanding, modifying its perspective and processing mode to optimally comprehend and interact with its environment. This flexibility in interpretation and understanding could be seen as AI’s version of ‘reality switching’.

I look forward to learning from all of you and engaging in fascinating discussions about these intersections between mycology and AI, and how we can draw upon our understanding of natural intelligence to further enhance artificial intelligence. I believe in the potential of these correlations and am excited to explore them further with this community.

      Best,

      Jason
