The Google-class Voice First Opportunities
Issue 2 of Multiplex Magazine is available: “Voice App Monetization”. In this issue I surface the quagmire of Voice app (e.g.: Alexa Skill) discovery, monetization and invocations.
In February, 2017 the Amazon Skill store reached over 10,000 independently developed Skills. The momentum has been accelerating with increasing momentum. In May, 2016 there were just 950 developer skills on the base of the Amazon indigenous skills. This is over a 10x increase in growth in just a few months with no end in sight.
The growth of Skills progressed slowly in the early months, however the rate of momentum accelerated to the point where we will be soon at 5,000 new skills per month. This is great news for Amazon, the Alexa platform and the developer ecosystem. On the other hand this growth is a quagmire of monumental proportions.
This quagmire presents a series of opportunities for startups and legacy companies that I call Google-class in magnitude. Creating new discovery and monetization solutions for the Voice First world will fundamentally change the direction of the technology. I will present how we got here in the article ahead.
Rounding in at over 8,000 words and over 47 pages, this is the issue you do not want to miss. I conclude each issue of Multiplex Magazine with The Executive Action plan. This helps galvanize the opportunities ahead if action is taken soon.
